FY07 H-662 Replace 61 Units At Old Apra, Phase I – Naval Base, Guam
This Design / Build project included the completion of the 35% RFP design to full design for the construction of 55 new housing units for the US Navy. The initial work included hazardous material abatetment and demolition of 35 existing two story duplex and single story single family homes and replacing those structures with 55 new homes – 11 duplexes and 33 single family homes.
This military housing complex is primarily intended for senior enlisted and junior officier personnel and as such the design and finishes reflect a higher standard than often found in “inside the fence” housing. Amenities include ceramic tile floors throughout, vaulted ceilings with recessed lighting and ceiling fans, island kitchens complete with state of the art appliances, screened patio enclosures and 170mph typhoon wind rated doors, windows and storm shutters.
All units include enclosed garages with remote operated garage doors. Civil work included uprades to all existing services such as water, sewer and storm drainage. The electrical distribution system was “hardened” with all existing overhead electrical, communications and CCTV lines moved underground. Site finishing work includes neighborhood amenities such as picinic area, playgrounds, “super tot” lot and basketball / volleyball courts and improvements to existing road surfaces.
