REPAIR DOUBLE BITT, ROMEO WHARF, APRA HARBOR

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

romeowharf

This Design-Build project, located on Naval Base, Guam at Romeo Wharf in Apra Harbor, consisted of the replacement of a double bitt mooring bollard with associated civil and structural renovations to include:

ü  Removal of the existing cast iron bollard and installation of a new double bitt bollard;

ü  Repair of the existing concrete bulkhead and cap;

ü  Underwater repair (patching) of the deteriorating existing sheet piles;

ü  Installation of new concrete grade beam and restoration of asphalt paving;

ü  Spall and crack repairs on the existing pile cap rail.

Significant Challenges & Solutions Provided

An incorrect template furnished by the manufacturer resulted in anchor bolt configuration for a different bollard. BCC initiated work on an adaptor plate that allowed for the bollard to be installed and used by the Navy while the manufacturer produced an alternate bollard.
