softball-profilePROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This is a design build project which provide repairs to the existing deteriorated natural grass and coral sand surface of Softball Field #2 (F-120). The existing playing field surface were replaced with synthetic turf complete with required softball filed markings and tiled sub-drainage system that collects water from under the synthetic turf and divert it to the perimeter drainage. Finished grading was provided in and out of the playing field for positive drainage

Several Notable features of work included:

  • BCC utilized the services of T3-Global, an Industry leader in providing state of the art artificial turf products for a durable playing surface that meet and exceed the client’s expectations.
  • The Materials procurement and logistics are very challenging as we have to source the component from the US mainland and to timing the shipping to Singapore to catch the once a month shipping schedule to DG thru the Military Sealift Command of the US Navy.
  • Site works was performed with minimal disruption to traffic and access to the adjacent facilities.

Significant Challenges & Solutions Provided

Equipment breakdown was a major concern of our Operation in Diego Garcia. Due to the limited flights to DG to bring in the replacement parts, proper timing of the parts arriving in Singapore to catch the C17 once a week flight schedule was important.
