NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION – GUAM BRANCH RENOVATION

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

On August 23, 2017 Black Construction Corporation (BCC) received the official notice of award from the Navy Federal Credit Union for the renovation of their facility at Naval Base, Guam.  Notice to Proceed was issued on August 24, 2017 with a contract completion date of January 17, 2018. 

The original scope of work consisted of the remodel of an existing and operating Navy Federal Credit Union branch. Work was divided into four phases to minimize disruption and provide access to restrooms at all times.

The renovation was carefully sequenced to ensure that credit union operations were functional throughout the entire construction period. A temporary teller line constructed at the project onset commencement assured the financial needs of our servicemen were never inconvenienced. Owner-initiated change orders were added to the original scope of work during the construction phase which included re-painting of all existing wood doors, trims and millwork. Working with our painting subcontractor, Black suggested low VOC paints to assure a safe environment for the staff and customers. Additional changes included

additional cabinets and millwork, replacement of existing exhaust fans, and installation of a new surveillance camera enclosures, power and data outlets.

A ribbon cutting and open house were held on March 18, 2018.
