Replace Transfer Pumps Andy II Tank Farm, AAFB, Guam
This project was awarded to Black Construction Corporation through a competitive bidding process at a total contract amount of $713,507.00. The performance period, was 240 calendar days including clean-up and final inspection. The performance period also included 90 calendar days for mobilization. However, Andersen Air Force Base granted a 14 calendar day extension for mobilization due to the calamity brought on by Supertyphoon Pongsona in December 2002. On-site work was not permitted during the mobilization, thereby the remaining 150 calendar days was devoted to site activities.
The contract required the upgrade of the pumping system of Andy II Tank Farm at Andersen Air Force Base. The contract also specified that adequate power and equipment must be provided to the base for day to day use during the performance period of the contract and phasing of activities must be enforced to meet the pumping requirements of the Base.
The Principal work featured in this contract includes the following:
- Replace the existing four (4) JP-8 fuel transfer pumps including upgrades to valves and the fuel piping system. The pump upgrades went from 75 HP to 150 HP.
- Replace the existing distribution transformer from 300 KVA to 750 KVA.
- Replace the existing main electrical distribution switchgear.
- Replace the existing Motor Control Center and other related ancillary wiring installations.
- Replace the existing wall ventilator and exhaust grill and duct.
